This Ø10.8mm female tank connector is designed for the fuel systems of Mercury/Mariner outboards where the tank is equipped with a larger male fuel fitting. Essentially, it is the counterpart to connector code 00853, but on the tank side – it attaches to the hose that connects the tank to the engine. Mercury has traditionally used this style of connection for its mid- and large-size engines to ensure higher flow and reliability.

Features: The connector has an inner diameter of 10.8mm, meant for 3/8" fuel hose. It is fully compatible with genuine Mercury/Quicksilver fuel lines and connectors. Constructed from tough engineering plastic, it withstands UV exposure and prolonged contact with fuel. The internal mechanism includes a spring-loaded check valve: when the connector is not snapped onto the tank’s male fitting, the valve stays closed to stop fuel in the hose from leaking out. This means even if the hose is submerged or flipped upside down, fuel won’t freely spill.

  • Precise Compatibility: This female fitting mates exactly with the factory male tank outlets used by Mercury and Mariner. If you have a Mercury portable tank, its built-in outlet will pair perfectly with this connector.
  • Easy Operation: Connection is straightforward – you push the connector onto the tank’s nipple until the latch mechanism clicks into place. Disconnection is done by pressing the release tab on the female connector (if present, depending on the design) and pulling off.
  • Problem Prevention: As with all quick connects, having clean and intact seals is key. This connector comes with fresh O-ring seals that ensure no air is sucked into the fuel line – a particularly important factor for Mercury’s 2-stroke engines that rely on pressure/vacuum in the tank via the primer bulb.

Why replace or carry a spare: Over time, plastic can wear on its latch or the internal seal can flatten, which may lead to a loose connection. If you notice your tank hose “wiggling” or a slight fuel weep at the tank fitting during operation, it’s likely time for a new connector. Replacing it with this model (code 00812) will restore the system’s original reliability.

If you take long trips, it’s common to carry a second fuel tank – and you’ll need a second set of connectors. This female fitting is exactly what you’d need on the second hose to hook up a spare tank to the engine when the primary tank runs dry.

Overall, the Mercury 10.8mm female tank connector is a small but crucial investment in the trouble-free running of your boat. Whether you’re buying it as a backup or to swap out an old one, you’re ensuring the fuel goes only where it’s supposed to – through the hose to your motor, and nowhere else.
