Waterproof Socket, Plastic, IPX7, 30A, 220V

Code:
14.331.05

A rugged 30A (220V) waterproof deck socket for shore power, made from white ABS plastic (Luran) with an IPX7 protection rating. It features a spring-loaded self-closing cover that shields the inlet terminals from water when no plug is connected. This socket is mounted on the boat and allows safe connection of a 30A shore power plug from the dock to the vessel’s electrical system.

  • Deck Inlet: A round, watertight connector for installation on the boat’s deck or hull. It serves as the female receptacle (with male pins) on the vessel, into which the shore power cable plugs.
  • Marine-Grade Materials: The housing is crafted from high-strength ABS (Luran) plastic, which resists UV rays and weathering – ensuring long life without cracking or yellowing. The internal contact pins are silver-plated brass, protected against corrosion for stable electrical conductivity.
  • Fully Waterproof: The IPX7 rating means the unit withstands full immersion in water (up to 1 meter for 30 minutes). The cap closes tightly with a snap latch and rubber gasket, keeping water and moisture away from the electrical prongs when the inlet is not in use.
  • Easy Installation: Designed to fit standard cutouts for 30A inlets. It comes with a base gasket and stainless steel mounting hardware. The backside has a protective cover over the wire connections, guarding the wiring from strain and moisture entry.

This waterproof deck inlet (30A, 220V) provides a dependable point of connection for hooking your boat up to shore power. As a fixed part of your vessel’s electrical system, it is built to withstand harsh marine conditions. The white ABS Luran housing is lightweight and won’t add significant weight to your boat, yet it is sturdy enough to handle the loads of people stepping nearby or impacts from gear. Its smooth finish (in the plastic version it’s a matte white) integrates well with the deck aesthetics. The lid is attached via a robust hinge and spring – as soon as you unplug the shore cord, the lid automatically closes and snaps into place to restore the watertight seal. Under the lid, each of the three pins (hot, neutral, ground) is clearly marked and insulated per standards requirements.

  • Use Case: Ideal for mid-sized vessels – power yachts, sailboats, fishing boats – that utilize 30A shore power service. For example, boats around 8–12 m (26–40 ft) in length often come equipped with this type of inlet to power air conditioners, electric stoves, or high-capacity battery chargers when docked.
  • Safety & Standards: The inlet meets international marine safety standards (CE, ISO8846, etc., as applicable for electrical hardware on vessels). The built-in ground pin follows the standard configuration, ensuring that as you connect, the ground engages first for safety. The cover’s latch mechanism prevents it from accidentally remaining open – it requires intentional action to open, adding another layer of protection against water ingress.
  • Pairing with Plug: This deck socket is intended to be used with compatible 30A plugs (for instance, product 14.332.00). When the plug is inserted, the lid swings open 180° and stays neatly out of the way until disconnected. For maximum water resistance around a connected plug, the inlet relies on an O-ring around its opening and/or a gasket on the plug itself. Make sure these seals are clean and pliable – they are key to maintaining water resistance (though when a plug is in, the overall protection is effectively about IP56).
  • Installation Tips: Mount the unit on a vertical or near-vertical surface if possible – this way the lid closes downward and gravity helps keep water from pooling on it. If mounting on a horizontal deck, ensure the area around the inlet is slightly raised or well-drained so it’s not sitting in standing water. Use the provided gasket between the inlet’s flange and the boat’s mounting surface, and tighten the screws evenly to avoid warping.
  • Maintenance: About once a year (or more frequently if the boat stays in saltwater year-round), inspect the inlet internally. Disconnect shore power, remove the rear cover, and check the terminals for corrosion or looseness. Clean any green/white residue (if present) with contact cleaner. Also, inspect the O-ring on the cap – it should remain elastic and intact. If needed, replace it with a suitable silicone O-ring to maintain the full IPX7 protection.
