Extra-Soft Grey Fender Covers – Stretch Fabric Covers for Boat Fenders

Extra-soft fender covers are the perfect accessory to upgrade your boat’s docking gear – they enhance the appearance of your fenders and, more importantly, protect both the fenders and your boat’s hull. Made from high-quality textured polyester knit fabric, these covers are specifically engineered to withstand marine conditions and heavy use. The material is stretchy and smooth: the inside surface is gentle against the fender’s PVC skin, and the outside surface is gentle against your yacht’s gelcoat or paint. This prevents the typical “vinyl-on-gelcoat” rubbing that often leaves marks on both surfaces.

Each cover features adjustable end closures at the top and bottom. There’s an integrated drawstring and cam cleat system that allows you to cinch the cover tight around both ends of the fender. This ability to “tailor-fit” the cover on the fender ensures it stays taut and securely in place, with no sagging or flapping even in windy conditions. Thanks to the fabric’s stretch, one cover size can accommodate a range of fender dimensions (approximately ±10% variation in diameter/length).

Benefits of using fender covers:

• Protects the hull – Instead of bare or dirty vinyl rubbing directly on your boat, the cover acts as a soft buffer, preventing scratches and scuff marks on your topsides.
• Keeps fenders clean – The cover takes the abuse from docks, piling, or tires, which would otherwise scuff up or leave residue on the fender itself. When the cover gets dirty, you can easily remove and wash it, keeping your actual fenders in pristine condition.
• Improved aesthetics – Grey fabric covers give a neat, upscale look. All fenders appear uniform and shipshape, hiding any yellowing or scratches on the fender bodies. The light grey tone (similar to RAL 7042) was chosen because it doesn’t heat up excessively under sun and complements most boat color schemes. It also tends to show dirt less than pure white or very dark colors.
• Quieter docking – Fender-to-hull or fender-to-dock contact is much quieter with a fabric cover. You’ll experience fewer squeaks and sounds when the boat moves against the fenders in the breeze or current, which is especially appreciated during overnight stays.

Material characteristics: The cover fabric is a high-density knit polyester that is “texturized” to have a soft, almost fuzzy feel. This fluffiness increases friction (so the cover doesn’t slide off easily) and at the same time cushions any impact. The anti-abrasion weave means even constant rubbing won’t easily wear through the cover. Importantly, the fabric is engineered to be low-absorption; it won’t become waterlogged and heavy – it dries quickly when hung up. UV stabilizers are built into the yarn to prevent sun degradation of both the fibers and the color. The grey dye is chosen for maximum UV resistance, so these covers remain looking good season after season.

The covers are sized according to industry-standard Polyform fender sizes:

• Small cylindrical fenders (e.g., F1, F2): Codes 33.482.01 up to 33.482.03 cover approx. 150–220 mm diameter and 600–640 mm length fenders. These would fit small boat fenders or transom corner fenders.
• Medium cylindrical fenders (F3, F4): Code 33.482.04 (and .02/.03 variants) – around 220 mm diameter by 740–760 mm length. These cover the most common mid-size fenders used on 25–35 ft boats.
• Large cylindrical fenders (F5, F6 or similar): Codes 33.482.09/.10 etc. – progressively larger sizes (for example, about 30 cm diameter, 1 m length for an F6). These fit big fenders for larger yachts ~40–50 ft.
• Round “ball” fenders (Polyform A-series buoy-fenders): Specially shaped covers with a form-fitting round end:
  • A2 (code 33.482.16) – fits roughly Ø390 x 490 mm round fenders (Polyform A2 dimensions).
  • A3 (code 33.482.17) – fits ~Ø470 x 590 mm (Polyform A3).
  • A4 (33.482.18), A5 (33.482.19), A6 (33.482.20) – correspondingly larger (up to ~Ø860 x 1180 mm for A6).
    Each of these is tailored for the specific “buoy” style fender with a single top eye. All are made in the same light grey fabric, so you can outfit your entire fender inventory uniformly.

Maintenance of the covers is simple: when dirty or salty, remove the cover from the fender and rinse it with fresh water or throw it in a washing machine (use a gentle cycle, mild detergent). Allow it to air dry (it’s best not to tumble dry, to preserve elasticity). With proper care, these covers will last many seasons, keeping both your fenders and your boat looking their best.
