These D-shackles are essential hardware for any marine setup, offering secure and versatile connection points for a variety of equipment. Fabricated from AISI 316 stainless steel, they deliver exceptional resistance to rust even in saltwater environments, making them ideal for long-term use on boats, docks, and other seaside applications. The shackles are of the European large D type, meaning they have a slightly longer “D” body which can accommodate wider fittings or multiple lines while providing a generous internal opening for easy attachment.

We carry sizes with pin diameters of 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, and 12 mm. Each size has corresponding internal dimensions and load capacities suited to common marine uses:

• 5 mm shackle: Best for light-duty tasks on small boats, such as securing fenders, flag halyards, or small accessories. Fits well with 5–6 mm rope or chain.
• 6 mm shackle: Suited for small boat anchor chains (~6 mm link) or general use like connecting dock lines or light rigging.
• 8 mm shackle: A mid-size shackle often used with 8 mm anchor chain or for medium load connections. Perfect for mid-sized boats’ anchoring setups or heavy-duty snubbers.

Each shackle features a screw pin with metric threads that can be easily tightened or loosened by hand, or with a screwdriver/tool for extra snugness. The pin has a slotted head (and some sizes an eye hole) allowing you to secure it tightly and ensure it won’t back out due to vibration. For critical connections like anchor shackles, you can additionally safety-wire the pin through the eye for ultimate security. The smooth design of the shackle body and pin helps prevent chafe or damage to ropes and hardware.

Using stainless shackles means you won’t find orange rust stains on your deck or chain after a season in the water. Maintenance is simple – just occasional rinsing with fresh water to remove salt.
