This stainless anchor chain hawse pipe (deck opening for chain/rope) ensures the anchor rode feeds smoothly into the boat, preventing scuffs and impacts on the hull and deck. With outer dimensions 140 x 63 mm and an inner opening of about 97 x 37 mm, the unit is compact and suitable for most small to mid-sized vessels. It guides the chain or anchor line cleanly over the gunwale and into the anchor locker.

Constructed from cast AISI 316 stainless steel, it is built to withstand harsh marine conditions – the hawse pipe won’t rust even with constant contact from a wet anchor chain and saltwater. The mirror-polished finish provides an elegant touch, complementing other stainless hardware on deck. The smooth oval edges protect your rode: as the boat moves or the chain tension changes, there are no sharp corners to abrade rope fibers or damage the galvanized coating of the chain.

Installation is straightforward – the hawse pipe is seated into a pre-cut rectangular slot in the deck/bow and bolted in place (countersunk mounting holes are integrated in the flange for a flush fit). Once installed, it sits securely and guides the chain directly down into the anchor locker below deck. This particular model is open (non-hinged), making it ideal for chains that are used frequently – there are no moving parts to wear out. If desired, it can be paired with a rubber plug or canvas cover when the chain is stowed to reduce water splash.

The 140 x 63 mm hawsehole is suitable for chains up to about 10–12 mm diameter (the inner opening allows free passage of links in that range) and combination rope/chain rodes (for example, an 8 mm chain spliced to a 14 mm nylon line). Owners of boats around 6–10 m will find this size especially useful to maintain a neat, organized bow: the chain routes through the hawse pipe straight into the anchor locker without scratching the deck, and when the anchor is not in use, the flush opening gives a professional, finished look.
