This plastic cap for rope ladder steps is designed to provide extra security and a finished look for your rope ladder. It fits onto each end of a ladder rung where the rope passes through, serving two main purposes: it locks the step to the rope so it won’t slip or wobble, and it covers the exposed edge, protecting both the rope and your feet from chafing or injury on sharp corners. Made from tough, impact-resistant and UV-stabilized plastic, this cap withstands prolonged sun exposure and saltwater without becoming brittle or cracking.
The cap (manufacturer code 00594) is an original EVAL part and is meant to be used with EVAL’s replacement plastic steps (code 04263) and standard rope ladder models (e.g., code 04264). Installation is straightforward: after threading the rope through the step’s hole and tying a knot or inserting a stopper, you press or snap the cap over the hole on the outside end of the step. It fits snugly, locking the knot in place so the step cannot slide along the rope. Additionally, it covers the step’s ends, giving the ladder a finished, OEM appearance and preventing any cuts or snags from exposed edges.
Over time and heavy use of your rope ladder, the original caps may get lost or damaged. Without them, the rungs might start shifting or the ropes could wear faster. Replacing missing caps with new ones ensures each step remains securely fastened, even under dynamic loads (like when climbing out of the water). This small investment greatly extends the ladder’s lifespan and improves safety – you won’t have loose steps that could give way right when you need them most.
