This stainless steel ladder mounting base is designed to securely attach a folding or telescoping boat ladder to the transom or swim platform. Measuring 200×40 mm, the base is a flat rectangular bracket into which the ladder’s top rails (prongs) insert and lock. It’s made entirely of high-quality AISI 316 stainless steel with a mirror polish – this material ensures corrosion resistance even after years of exposure to saltwater and the elements.
The base features multiple pre-drilled holes for bolts or screws, making it straightforward to install onto your boat. Typically, it is fastened firmly with four bolts to the surface of the swim platform or another flat mounting area on the stern. Once installed, the top end of your ladder (for example, EVAL models code 00553 or 00554) simply slides into this base. The design ensures the ladder sits snugly in the bracket, held in place by gravity and possibly a locking pin, providing stability during boarding – the ladder won’t slip out or wobble even when someone climbs up from the water.
If you already have a ladder but the original base bracket has corroded or broken, this spare part is the perfect solution to restore safety. The standard 20×4 cm dimensions and hole spacing are compatible with many ladder models. Additionally, many boat owners opt to buy an extra base to create a second mounting point – for instance, one on the starboard side and one on the port side of the transom, or on different deck levels. This allows moving the ladder as needed for various situations (docking on different sides, accessing the water from different positions, etc.).
The mounting base usually comes without fastening hardware, since the appropriate bolts depend on your deck/transom material (it’s recommended to use stainless steel through-bolts with backing washers or nuts). Be sure to seal the bolt holes with marine silicone or sealant during installation to prevent water ingress. With this stainless base in place, you’ll provide your ladder with a reliable support, ensuring that boarding and disembarking your boat is always safe and secure.
