This aluminum base track, 5 m long with a 38x10 mm profile, is engineered to mount rub rail profiles to the hull with maximum strength and durability. The aluminum track is affixed to the hull with rows of stainless screws, creating a solid “rail” onto which the outer PVC rub rail is slid or snapped. Once fully installed, all screws are hidden beneath the rub rail or a decorative insert strip, giving a professional, clean appearance.
Made from marine-grade aluminum, this base has high resistance to tension, flex, and impact. It is particularly well-suited for powerful motorboats and yachts that operate at high speeds or in rough conditions – the metal base prevents the rub rail from peeling off or shifting under extreme stress. The track comes anodized, greatly enhancing its resistance to corrosion and wear. Prior to installation, the aluminum rail can be carefully pre-bent to match the hull’s curvature (or cut into sections for complex bends). When properly mounted, it provides years of structural support for the rub rail system.
- For large/fast vessels: Recommended for boats over ~5–6 m or those operating at high speeds, where the rub rail faces high loads and stress.
- Compatibility: Works with standard PVC rub rails (e.g., 30x14 mm), ensuring a snug fit and easy installation of the profile onto the base.
- Anodized finish: The anodization protects the aluminum from oxidizing and provides a smooth surface for the rub rail to slide on during installation.
- Extra precaution: During installation, apply a thin layer of marine sealant between the base and the hull – this prevents water intrusion and unwanted galvanic reaction between metals.
