This aluminum keel protector, 4 meters long and 30 mm wide, is designed to guard the bottom of your hull – specifically the keel line – from damage and wear. The half-round aluminum profile runs along the keel’s edge, taking the scratches, scuffs, and impacts that occur when pulling the boat onto sand or a trailer, as well as from accidental bumps into underwater rocks or reefs. The marine-grade aluminum construction ensures resistance to corrosion and maintains its strength even with constant saltwater exposure.
The protector is suitable for various boat types – from fishing and day boats to smaller yachts – especially vessels that are frequently beached or trailered. The standard 4 m length can be adjusted as needed: the strip can be cut with appropriate tools, and for longer keels, two or more strips can be installed in succession with a slight overlap. Installation involves drilling pilot holes and fastening with stainless steel screws or bolts along the keel; for a flush finish, screw heads can be countersunk or capped. With this aluminum guard in place, your boat’s keel gains long-term protection against scrapes, dents, and structural damage, thereby extending the life of the hull.
- Ideal for beaching and trailering: Recommended for boats that are often landed on shore or loaded onto trailers – protects the keel from grinding over sand, gravel, or rollers.
- For hulls up to ~5–6 m: A single 4 m strip covers the keel of smaller vessels; for larger boats, multiple strips can be combined end-to-end.
- Versatile installation: Can be installed on wooden, steel, or fiberglass keels, adding strength to the keel’s edge in any construction.
- Corrosion prevention tip: During installation, applying sealant or bedding compound between the protector and the hull is advised to prevent water ingress and galvanic corrosion.
