This plastic drain plug with a Ø34 mm diameter is perfect for boats that require a larger drain opening and faster water release. The locking cap is cleverly designed to remain attached to the assembly by a plastic tether, so there’s no risk of it dropping overboard or getting lost when opened. When you screw the cap closed, it seals the opening tightly (thanks to an integrated rubber gasket) and prevents water from seeping back in.
The design features a through-hull plastic body that installs in your boat’s transom or hull. Installation is straightforward – you’ll cut a hole of approximately 45 mm in the transom, insert the drain’s body, and secure it either with a retaining nut on the inside or with screws through the flange (depending on the exact configuration). The package includes necessary rubber gaskets to ensure a watertight seal between the plug assembly and the hull.
Application: This cap-type drain plug is especially useful for larger RIBs and hard-hull boats in the 5–7+ meter range that may take on more water from rain or waves and need more efficient drainage. The large Ø34 mm opening allows a high volume of water to drain quickly when you pull the boat out of the water, or even when running at speed (though note there is no internal one-way valve, so only open the plug when it’s safe to drain).
Using the Ø34 mm variant: We recommend this size for boats around 5 meters and up, where standard smaller plugs might drain too slowly. For example, if you have a motorboat that stays in the water for extended periods or often carries heavy loads, the larger plug size will facilitate fast bilge emptying after a trip.
The cap opens and closes by hand – no tools required. After draining, simply twist the cap firmly until the locking mechanism engages or it is snug, ensuring the boat is sealed again. The plastic construction means there are no metal parts to corrode, and the plug is immune to rust. We do suggest rinsing the assembly with fresh water occasionally to remove salt or sand, which will keep the cap threading smoothly and the gasket sealing effectively for a long service life.
