12V Wiper Motor – Marine Grade, 90°/110° Adjustable Sweep

Code:
01422

A reliable 12V wiper motor designed for boat use. It features an adjustable wipe angle (90° or 110°) and an extended shaft (62 mm) for easy installation through thick surfaces. Low power draw (~1A) and a built-in 1.5A fuse ensure safe, efficient operation. Suitable for various arm and blade sizes.

  • Marine-grade 12V motor: resistant to moisture, spray, and vibration – built for the harsh conditions on board.
  • Adjustable sweep angle: choose between a 90° or 110° wiper arc to optimally cover your windshield.
  • Extended 62 mm shaft: allows mounting the motor through thicker bulkheads or dashes, providing enough length for the arm to attach outside.
  • Energy efficient: low current draw (~1 A) is gentle on the battery; an integrated 1.5A fuse protects the motor from overload.
  • Compatibility: the motor’s torque and standard shaft spline make it compatible with a variety of wiper arms (standard, heavy-duty, pantograph) and blades up to ~14".

This 12V wiper motor is a key component for maintaining clear visibility in bad weather aboard your boat. It is engineered to meet marine requirements – its housing is resistant to spray and moisture ingress, and the internal components are protected against corrosion. Even with prolonged use in a salty environment, the motor remains reliable, ensuring your wipers will work precisely when you need them most.

One of the standout features of this model is the ability to adjust the wipe angle. Depending on the size and curvature of your windshield, you can set the motor to sweep at a 90-degree arc (shorter sweep for smaller windows) or a 110-degree arc (longer sweep for wider windows). This flexibility allows the motor to be used on various boat models – from small cabin cruisers to mid-sized yachts – while always providing maximum coverage without the wiper arm going past the window edges.

The extended drive shaft (62 mm) is another advantage of this motor. Many boats have thicker front walls or consoles through which the motor must be mounted, and standard short shafts may not suffice. With a 62 mm shaft, this model allows secure installation through such panels and leaves enough protrusion for attaching the wiper arm outside. The shaft is splined to fit standard wiper arms.

In terms of electrical performance, the motor is energy-efficient – drawing about 1 amp of current during operation, which minimizes strain on your onboard electrical system. The built-in automatic safety protection (1.5A fuse or thermal cutoff) will shut off the motor in the event of a jam or overload, preventing damage and overheating. After the issue is resolved, the motor can be reset, adding a layer of safety and durability.

  • Compatibility with Arms & Blades: This 12V motor has sufficient torque to drive standard and heavy-duty wiper setups. It can confidently power a single arm up to ~38 cm in length with a ~35 cm blade, as well as a pantograph (dual) arm with similar blade size. This makes it a universal solution for most wiper kits available. (For very large wipers or 24V systems, a more powerful or different model might be needed, but for the given sizes the 01422 performs excellently.)
  • Smooth & Quiet Operation: The motor is designed to run smoothly and with minimal noise, which contributes to onboard comfort. The gearing and motor are optimized to reduce vibrations, so the wiper glides across the glass without jerking.
  • Easy Installation: The package includes standard mounting bolts and a wiring diagram. You’ll need only a round hole for the shaft and a few bolt holes for securing the unit. Electrically, the motor connects to a 12V power source and a switch (not included, but a standard wiper toggle or rocker switch can be used). The back-and-forth motion (wiper park and return) is automatically managed by the motor’s internal mechanism.
