This 12V wiper motor is designed for smaller vessels, offering a blend of compact size and sufficient power to maintain clear visibility during rain or spray. With dimensions of only 17.2×7.8×5.7 cm, it can easily fit into tight spaces behind dashboards or in small consoles. The long 82 mm shaft allows through-roof or bulkhead mounting, which is useful for boats with enclosed cabins where the motor mounts inside and the shaft passes through to the exterior to drive the wiper arm.

The motor comes factory-set to a 90° sweep angle, suitable for narrow windshields such as those on small runabouts or console boats. If needed, the wipe angle can be increased to about 110° by adjusting the internal linkage (to be done by an experienced installer), giving a wider coverage for broader glass. The unit also features self-parking – when turned off, the wiper blade automatically returns to the bottom position, keeping it out of the line of sight.

Reliability & Construction: The housing and gear mechanism are built from durable materials fit for humid, salty environments. The shaft is stainless steel to resist corrosion. This motor draws very low current (~1 A), meaning it won’t heavily tax the boat’s electrical system – an important factor for smaller boats with limited battery capacity. A fuse of about 1.5–2 A is recommended to protect the circuit.

Despite its small size, the motor runs smoothly and quietly, providing convenience for the operator. It’s well-suited for small yachts, fishing boats, RIBs, and dinghies with consoles, where typically a single wiper is used on the windshield. By installing this unit, you can upgrade your boat from manual windshield clearing to an automatic wiper system, greatly improving safety in foul weather. The motor’s torque is sufficient for standard wiper arms and blades (e.g., 12–14 inches long). During installation, ensure you properly seal the shaft base to the windshield or panel to prevent water ingress.

Usage & Recommendations: This compact wiper motor is ideal for boats around 10–20 ft in length that have small pilot windscreens or helm enclosures. Center console boats, small runabouts, and fishing skiffs can all benefit from the reliability of an automated wiper using this motor. For optimal performance, pair it with a matching wiper arm and blade – typically lightweight stainless steel or chrome arms that fit the spline of the motor shaft. If a wider sweep is required, consult a marine technician to adjust the angle. Follow the proper wiring polarity when connecting to a toggle or rocker switch (usually a simple on/off switch for single-speed operation), and ensure a good ground connection. With this motor installed, your boat will be better equipped for rainy days – it will keep your windshield clear and enhance safety during navigation.
