This reinforced wiper arm is built to withstand conditions that challenge ordinary wipers. Its all-metal stainless steel construction and thicker profile provide increased stability and blade pressure against the windshield. This is critical in heavy rain, rough seas, or when the boat is moving at high speeds – the wiper stays pressed to the glass and does its job effectively.
The adjustable length allows the arm to be tuned to your windshield’s height and the desired coverage area. Thus, the same model can be adapted to both taller and broader windows. The marine-grade stainless steel used in fabrication ensures that even after years of use in a saltwater environment, the arm will not corrode or lose its rigidity. Additionally, the arm’s robust hinge joints are designed to withstand constant stress and motion without loosening or wearing out.
- Model 01612-14 (23–31 cm): Suited for medium-sized vessels (around 7–9 m), such as cruisers and workboats, with moderately sized windshields. This length offers an excellent balance of reach and stability – long enough for good coverage, yet still very resistant to wind lift. It is recommended for wiper blades around 28–30 cm for optimal performance.
- Model 01612-15 (28–38 cm): Ideal for large boats and yachts (9–12+ m) with tall or very wide windshields. It accommodates an ~35 cm blade, covering a huge portion of the field of view. The extended arm remains robust even at full length, providing reliable clearing of expansive glass under torrential rain.
- Compatible System: Both models are engineered to work with high-torque wiper motors capable of driving longer arms and blades. Combined with pantograph mechanisms or large wiper blades, they form a system that excels in harsh weather. This makes them a top choice for rescue vessels, commercial craft, and ocean-going yachts.
- Installation & Safety: Installation is similar to standard arms – they use the same type of attachment to the motor shaft. It is recommended, however, to ensure your motor is securely mounted, as a heavy-duty arm can exert greater torque. The arm has an anti-corrosion finish which, together with the stainless material, ensures the locking mechanisms remain operable even after years of service.
