Bilge Pump Alarm 12V, 14A, 85 dB (Kit with Float Switch)

Code:
02303

High-water bilge alarm system – includes an audible buzzer (85 dB) and a float sensor. When water rises above normal levels, the float triggers a loud alarm to alert the crew of potential flooding. Designed for 12V systems (float switch handles up to 14A, allowing parallel pump control if needed).

  • Loud 85 dB buzzer: Highly audible alarm that catches attention even in noisy conditions.
  • Float sensor: Detects high water level and automatically activates the alarm when danger is present.
  • 12V compatible: Runs on standard 12V DC; float switch can control pumps up to 14A (if required).
  • Enhanced safety: Early warning of excessive bilge water – gives you time to react and save your boat from severe damage.

This high-water bilge alarm adds an extra layer of protection for your boat. The kit includes a loud buzzer (~85 dB alarm sounder) and a float switch that acts as a water level sensor. The concept is simple: the alarm’s float is mounted slightly above the normal activation level of your standard bilge pump. Under normal conditions, your pump handles incoming water and the level never reaches the alarm float. But if for some reason the water continues to rise – for example, due to a severe leak, heavy rain, a failure of the primary pump, or a clogged discharge – when it reaches the alarm float’s height, the float is triggered. This closes the circuit to the buzzer, causing it to emit a loud alarm tone that alerts everyone on board (and near the boat) to a problem.

Features & Benefits:

  • Early warning: Instead of relying solely on visually noticing rising water, this system alerts you clearly and loudly. The 85 dB alarm can be heard even if the boat is noisy (from engines or wind) or if the crew is asleep. It gives you valuable time to respond – start an auxiliary pump, find and stop the leak, or don life jackets if necessary.
  • Easy installation: The alarm’s float switch installs similarly to a regular float – on the bilge floor, but positioned higher up. The buzzer is mounted in a convenient location in the cabin or cockpit where it can be easily heard. Only two wires connect the components: one from the float to the buzzer, and one from the buzzer to the power source. It’s recommended to wire it through a fuse for safety.
  • Pump integration: The float switch is rated up to 14A, which means it can simultaneously activate the alarm and directly power an additional (backup) pump connected to it, if one is set up. In many cases, however, the alarm is simply wired in parallel to the main pump – it doesn’t interfere with pump operation, it just independently monitors the water level.
  • Peace of mind: Especially on larger yachts with multiple compartments where you might not routinely inspect the bilge, an alarm like this is crucial. During cruises or overnight stays, it will wake you if there’s an issue before it becomes catastrophic. Even at the dock, if people are nearby, the alarm can draw attention in time to respond and save a vessel from sinking.

In essence, the 12V bilge alarm with 85 dB buzzer is like a smoke detector – but for water. It doesn’t replace your pumps, it complements them by notifying you if they can’t keep up or fail to engage. This is a valuable extra insurance for the safety of your boating and the preservation of your vessel.
