SmartPlug Shore Power Plug (Male) 16A/32A
This SmartPlug male plug is installed on your existing shore power cable, replacing the old round connector with the innovative SmartPlug system. Once fitted, your cord will connect to your boat’s inlet via SmartPlug, providing all the system’s benefits on both sides of the connection. Installation is straightforward: remove the old plug, attach the cable’s wires (live, neutral, ground) to the SmartPlug connector’s screw terminals, then close and secure its cover. The SmartPlug plug is designed with user safety and convenience in mind – from the keyed orientation that ensures correct plugging, to the watertight seal it maintains when not in use. Versions are available for 16A cords (typically 3 x 2.5 mm² conductors) and 32A cords (3 x 6 mm² conductors).
- Complete SmartPlug System: If you’ve upgraded your boat’s inlet to SmartPlug, this plug is the essential companion to complete the setup. It replaces the weak link of a standard cord set – the prone-to-heat traditional plug – with SmartPlug’s cool and secure connection.
- Improved Conductivity: The internal contact blades of the SmartPlug plug clamp around the inlet pins along their entire surface, rather than at a small point. This greatly reduces electrical resistance and losses, keeping the connector cool even under continuous full load.
- Secure Attachment: Upon plugging in, the SmartPlug plug automatically locks into your boat’s inlet via its two locking levers. This means the cord cannot be accidentally pulled out – a key safety feature, especially with people on board or the boat moving. To unplug, simply squeeze the levers – a quick and easy action.
- Durability & Resilience: The plug’s housing is impact-resistant and UV-stabilized, and all metal parts are top-quality stainless steel. It’s built to withstand years of use in marine conditions without corrosion or loosening of the connections.
- Compatibility & Use: The 16A SmartPlug plug fits the standard shore cords (often orange or blue cables up to ~50-65 feet) typically used by smaller vessels. The 32A version is made for the thicker shore cords used on large yachts that require heavier power. Professional or careful self-installation following the provided instructions is recommended to ensure a proper waterproof seal and electrical connection.
