This angled deck filler neck is designed to simplify installation and use on a variety of boats. The ~30° angled neck means the hose barb is tilted relative to the flange – extremely useful when the tank and deck are positioned such that a straight filler would kink the hose too sharply. With the angled version, your hose makes a smoother bend, preventing collapse and easing fuel or water flow.
Material & Build: The filler’s body is high-quality 316 stainless steel, cast for strength and polished to a mirror shine. This not only gives your deck a sleek, upscale look, but also guarantees resistance to rust and staining even after years of exposure to sun, saltwater, and fuel vapors. Deck fillers often sit exposed on the deck – hence the material is chosen to withstand the harsh environment.
Purpose-Specific Variants: The Fuel and Water models differ by the marking on the cap (and sometimes the color of the O-ring, e.g., blue for water). The fuel fillers (codes 03040-FUEL and 03040-50FUEL) can be used with gasoline or diesel – they typically have internal grounding provisions to dissipate static during refueling. The water filler (03040-WATER) is built the same way, but intended for potable/fresh water and clearly labeled to avoid any mix-up.
Cap Details: The cap is threaded, providing a secure closure. It’s designed for easy hand operation, usually with two cross holes for a deck fill key or handle (some models use a slotted coin-style cap – if a specific key is required, it’s generally not included). On the underside of the cap, a short chain is attached, with the other end anchored to the flange – so even if you drop the cap while open, it stays attached and won’t be lost overboard. A rubber O-ring seated in the cap compresses against the flange when closed, ensuring rain or spray can’t seep into your tank.
Installation: The filler’s flange has three screw holes (at 120° intervals). Position the filler so the text is oriented correctly and the angled barb points toward your tank, then mark the holes. It’s recommended to use a bedding compound or gasket under the flange for a watertight seal. After securing the filler with screws, attach the appropriate hose (38 mm or 50 mm ID depending on model) from the filler neck to your tank and clamp it. Ensure the hose is not twisted or kinked.
- Fast Diesel Refueling: The 50 mm version is an excellent solution for yachts and vessels that take on large volumes of diesel – the larger hose allows higher flow rates and quicker fills
- Uniform Look: If your boat has both fuel and water tanks, using the same series of fillers gives a clean, professional appearance on deck
- Reliability: The heavy-duty stainless construction won’t crack or distort, even if stepped on or hit – it withstands weight in busy deck areas
- Easy Identification: With the different markings, the risk of mis-fueling (e.g., diesel into a water tank) is practically eliminated – important for crews and owners alike
- Long-Term Investment: This filler is likely a one-time purchase – it’s built to last and will enhance both the functionality and value of your vessel for years to come
