This flat gas spring mounting base is designed to ensure a secure installation of a gas strut on a flat or slightly angled surface. Made from 316 stainless steel with a mirror-polish finish, the bracket withstands harsh marine conditions without corroding, while also providing a professional look to your installation. The flat profile is ideal for scenarios where the gas spring attaches to a surface parallel to its cylinder/rod – for example, the underside of a horizontal hatch or lid. The built-in bolt (pin) with 8 mm diameter and threaded end allows you to screw on the gas spring’s end fitting directly (8 mm is a standard size for most gas struts), creating a solid and secure connection.

With its compact dimensions of 45 x 36 mm, this bracket occupies very little space yet provides maximum support for the gas spring by distributing forces over a broad base. Installation is straightforward – simply drill pilot holes and fasten the plate using stainless steel screws or bolts onto the mounting surface. It is commonly used for installing gas lift struts that support lids and hatches, such as an engine compartment hatch, a floorboard locker, or a bench seat lid in the cabin. Using this base greatly simplifies adding a gas spring and increases reliability – the strut remains firmly attached even under vibration and continuous load. In cases where your gas spring needs to connect between perpendicular surfaces (such as a lid to a side wall), EVAL offers a 90° angled bracket version (model 03335-2) to suit that purpose.

  • Use Cases: Ideal for mounting a gas spring that holds open horizontal lids – e.g., an engine hatch, storage locker cover, or companionway step hatch
  • Installation Tip: Each gas spring typically requires two mounting brackets – one on the lid and one on the frame. This flat base is used on the side where the strut attaches to a flat surface
  • Strength & Material: The 316 stainless steel construction provides high load capacity and withstands constant force and marine climate. The smooth polished finish prevents rust formation and is easy to clean
  • Upgrade Benefit: If your boat’s hatch currently lacks a gas assist, adding a gas spring with this bracket will greatly improve convenience – the lid will stay open on its own, freeing your hands during maintenance or access tasks
