Small Protective Cap Ø75 mm for Trailer – End Cap for Rollers
This small Ø75 mm protective cap is specifically designed for boat trailers that use rollers to support the boat’s hull. Trailer rollers are typically cylindrical, often with exposed ends or axle stubs on each side. When loading or launching a boat, there’s a risk that the ends of the rollers or their shafts could make contact with the hull – a hard edge can scratch or dent the boat, especially on smaller craft or if alignment is off during loading. This little end cap addresses that issue by covering those ends with a smooth, rounded surface.
Installation is very simple: the cap is made slightly undersized relative to 75 mm, so when you push it onto the roller, it grips firmly and stays in place. No tools or fasteners are needed – just press it on by hand. Once installed, it remains secure even under travel vibrations. The material (typically flexible plastic or polyurethane) is impact-resistant: if the roller end bumps into something hard (like a curb or dock), the cap absorbs the impact, protecting the roller itself and its brackets.
Usage & Recommendations:
- Boat trailers: Fit protective caps on all the end rollers of your trailer – during boat retrieval or launch, if the hull shifts or tilts, it will hit a soft cap instead of a sharp metal edge
- Various uses: Besides rollers, Ø75 caps can also be used to cover open pipes or tubing on the trailer frame to prevent water/dirt ingress and give a finished look
- If the caps loosen over time (due to stretching or wear), simply replace them – they are inexpensive, yet save you from bigger costs like repairing gelcoat or paint on your boat
- Match with proper rollers: Ensure you use the correct diameter rollers and caps for your trailer – 75 mm is common for small to mid-sized boats; larger boats may use bigger rollers and corresponding caps
- During installation, you can slightly moisten or warm the cap (leave it in the sun) to make it more pliable, making it easier to push on – as it cools, it will tighten up around the roller for a secure fit
