This universal seat base combines two key mechanisms in one compact unit – sliding the seat forward/back and rotating 360° around its axis. The anodized aluminum construction ensures light weight and maximum corrosion resistance, while still providing the strength needed to keep the seat stable. At only 70 mm tall, the base is low-profile and won’t significantly raise the seat height, preserving ease of entry and exit.

The sliding mechanism allows adjustment of the seat position horizontally, similar to the separate slider (code 04289), with a travel range of about 17 cm. This gives precise control over the distance to the helm or table. The integrated swivel platform lets the seat spin freely through 360°, which is extremely useful on boats where you need to communicate with passengers or have all-round visibility. The base includes a swivel locking mechanism – so you can fix the seat facing forward during cruising (for safety), and easily unlock it when you want to rotate. Typically, the lock is engaged or released by pulling or pressing a lever/pin that secures the rotating part.

The 338×182 mm footprint corresponds to a standard universal mount. The top side of this base has multiple holes/slots matching the bolt patterns of various seats. The bottom side also has holes for attaching to a pedestal or directly to the boat deck. This means compatibility is extremely broad – you can place this base on an adjustable post (in place of a static top plate) or on a fixed deck mount. If used directly on the deck, you get a low-profile seat base that both slides and swivels, which is great for cockpit table seating or fishing fighting chairs.

The aluminum body is anodized to a smooth finish – this not only protects it from corrosion but also gives it a premium look. Meanwhile, internal mechanisms (rails, swivel bearing) use hardened steel and reinforced polymer components (where needed) to handle the stress of repeated sliding and turning without play or squeaks. With proper use, a seat on this base moves fluidly and rotates easily, without the user needing to stand up.

Note: Code 04265-NS is often referred to as a "universal swivel base" – the NS may indicate a “non-swivel” seat required (meaning it provides the swivel function itself). In practice, this base can be seen as an all-in-one slide-and-swivel solution. It replaces the need for a separate slider and separate swivel mount, combining their functions into one.

  • Typical use cases: Excellent for helm seats that need to turn toward the aft (e.g., when the captain chats with guests or monitors water sports behind the boat) and adjust fore-aft for optimal helm control. Also suitable for flybridge chairs, for seats around a cockpit or salon table where guests can swivel to face each other or the table.
  • Advantages: Combining slide and swivel in one system saves space and reduces components – no need to install a separate track and a separate swivel. This lowers the overall height and complexity. With this base, the seat can quickly swing around (for instance, the captain can face aft to watch anglers) and then be returned and locked facing forward for travel. The sliding feature provides more legroom or closer reach to controls as needed.
  • Installation & compatibility: Mounts using 8 bolts – 4 to the seat (on top) and 4 to the base/deck/pedestal (below). The hole spacing follows standardized patterns (e.g., ~160 mm between opposite holes), matching most marine seats. It’s compatible with EVAL products and many other brands. If mounting directly on the deck, ensure the surface is flat and sturdy. If mounting on a pedestal, remove the existing top plate and use the same bolt holes. Maintenance is minimal – keep the locking mechanism clean (free of sand and salt) and occasionally lubricate moving parts with appropriate grease. Periodically test the lock operation (engage/disengage it so it doesn’t seize up). Check that the locking pin or lever springs back properly and holds the seat in place during motion.
