Kayak Car Roof Transport Kit – Foam Blocks and Tie-Down Straps System
This transport kit lets you easily carry your kayak to the water even if your car doesn’t have factory roof racks. Four high-density EVA foam pads sit directly on the roof – they conform to the roof’s shape and provide a soft cushion for the kayak to rest on, preventing scratches to the paint. The two wide straps run through the car’s door openings (over the roof and kayak) and tighten with metal cam buckles, strapping the kayak securely to the roof. For extra stability, the provided ropes with hooks latch onto anchor points (such as tow hooks or the frame) at the front and rear of the car, then attach to the bow and stern of the kayak. This prevents the boat from shifting forward or backward during sudden stops and starts. The polyester straps are vinyl-coated to withstand friction and weather, and reinforced stitching ensures a long service life. After use, the entire kit packs up compactly – the pads and straps can be stowed in your trunk or even inside the kayak itself.
- Usage Recommendations: Suitable for transporting one kayak or canoe up to about 4 m (13 ft) long. For safety, it’s advised to keep speeds around 90 km/h (~55 mph) or below when driving with a kayak on the roof. Periodically check strap tension during travel.
