Stainless Swivel Eye Snap Hook (AISI 316) – Ø4 to Ø7 mm Sizes

Code:
00213-1

Stainless steel swivel eye snap hooks, perfect for quick and secure attachment of ropes, chains, and gear on your boat. With a freely rotating eye to prevent line twisting, these snap hooks come in various sizes (4, 5, 6, or 7 mm bar diameter) to handle different loads.

  • AISI 316 Stainless Steel: Premium marine-grade material resists saltwater corrosion – built for harsh environments and frequent use.
  • 360° Swivel Eye: Allows the attached rope or chain to spin freely, eliminating tangles and easing movement of the connected object (e.g., anchor, buoy, sail).
  • Secure Spring Latch: Strong spring-loaded gate keeps items firmly clipped in, yet opens easily with thumb pressure for quick release when needed.

These swivel eye snap hooks combine the convenience of quick-connect clips with the reliability of marine-grade stainless steel. Each hook is made from AISI 316 stainless, meaning it won’t rust or corrode even after prolonged saltwater exposure. The polished surface gives a smooth finish and removes sharp edges, ensuring easy handling (even with wet or gloved hands).

The swiveling eye at the base of the snap is a key feature: it allows the attached rope, strap, or chain to rotate freely around its axis. For example, if you use this hook to secure a mooring line to a buoy or an anchor chain to a fitting, the swivel will prevent the rope from twisting as the boat changes position or drifts. This reduces kinks and wear on your lines and improves safety by keeping connections from binding up.

Sizes & Applications: The variants Ø4, Ø5, Ø6, and Ø7 mm refer to the approximate diameter of the metal (and thus general size/strength of the hook):

  • Ø4 mm (about 65 mm length): The smallest size – suitable for light-duty tasks like attaching flags, keys, small fenders, or light lines. Example: can be used on small dinghies or daysailers to secure lightweight rigging or gear, or to safely clip items (like a whistle or flashlight) to a life vest or belt.
  • Ø5 mm (about 85 mm length): A versatile medium size – well suited for small mooring lines, bucket lanyards, securing gear or canvas. Ideal for runabouts and sailboats around 4–6 meters. It can hold a throwable life ring or a small anchor on a tender without accidental release under tension.
  • Ø6 mm (about 100 mm length): A strong hook for more demanding loads – clipping primary mooring lines, heavy fenders, sail sheets or blocks. Recommended for boats ~6–9 meters, where extra strength is important. This size can take substantial weight and could serve as a quick-release for a light anchor or attaching a towing bridle/buoy securely.
  • Ø7 mm (about 120 mm length): The largest and toughest model – perfect for large yachts and high-load applications. It can be used with very thick ropes (16+ mm), chains, or even sea drogues/para-anchors. Example: ideal for rapidly connecting a main anchor rode or chain to a mooring ring (when a fast disconnect is desired), or for securing heavy equipment on deck during rough weather.

All sizes feature a strong internal spring in the latch that will not accidentally open under load. To attach, push open the gate, slip it through a ring or loop, and release to snap shut. To detach, press the gate with your thumb again. Important: Always double-check the gate has fully closed after clipping, especially in vibrating conditions.

Advantages:

  • Multi-Purpose: These swivel snaps are suitable for a vast range of marine tasks: from rigging connections and attaching safety lines, to hanging protective netting or making quick repairs (e.g., temporarily joining two lines). They are also useful off the boat – on trailers, vehicles, camping gear, etc., wherever a strong quick-link is needed.
  • Safety & Reliability: Even under dynamic loads and movement, the swiveling action prevents twisting, meaning the hook is less likely to undo itself or unscrew any attached fitting. The stainless material ensures the hook retains its integrity – no cracking or metal fatigue failure.
  • Compact & Lightweight: Despite their strength, the hooks are relatively lightweight and easy to carry in your pocket or toolkit. They can be part of your emergency or general-purpose gear on board, ready to be deployed for quick fixes or safety uses by any boater.
