This replacement oar handle grip is designed to restore comfort and control to your rowing experience. Over time, original oar handles can wear out, crack, or become slippery – replacing them with a new grip greatly improves the feel of rowing. We offer this handle in three standard inner diameters – 25 mm, 30 mm, and 35 mm – which cover the most common oar shaft sizes. Simply measure the diameter of your oar’s shaft and choose the corresponding option.

Comfort & Design: The grip features a T-shaped design (typical for boat oars) that allows you to firmly grasp the end of the oar with your palm. The shape and texture prevent your hand from sliding off, even when wet. This is especially important during prolonged rowing or in bad weather when grip can be compromised. The material used has a slight give (a bit of flexibility), which adds comfort – it absorbs some vibration and pressure on your hand. With this handle, you will have better control over your strokes, as you can apply steady pressure without your hand fatiguing quickly.

Installation & Compatibility: The handle is very easy to install – simply remove the old grip (and any remnants of it), clean and dry the end of the oar shaft, and slide the new grip on until fully seated. It’s designed to fit snugly. Depending on your oar model, there may be a small hole for a locking screw – if so, align the hole in the grip with the one on the oar shaft and tighten a small stainless screw to secure it. If there isn’t a pre-drilled hole but you want extra security, you can apply a bit of waterproof adhesive inside the grip before sliding it on, or carefully drill a small hole and add a screw once in place. The Ø25 mm and Ø30 mm grips are commonly used for inflatable boat oars and canoe paddles (often aluminum or plastic shafts), while Ø35 mm is typical for larger boat oars (3-4 m boats or heavy-duty oars) often made of wood or thick fiberglass.

  • Ø25 mm: The smallest size – meant for thin oar shafts, typical of certain canoes, kayaks, or very compact inflatable boats. Oars around 25 mm diameter are usually about 120-150 cm long, and this grip makes them comfortable to hold with one hand while the other hand holds lower on the paddle.
  • Ø30 mm: A versatile mid-size – found on many dinghy oars, inflatable boat oars, and small fishing boat oars. Oars with 30 mm shafts are a bit sturdier and longer (around 1.5–2 m). The Ø30 mm handle provides a secure two-handed grip (one hand on the T-grip, the other further down the oar) for effective rowing.
  • Ø35 mm: The large size grip – for bigger oars often used on 3-5 meter boats, lifeboats, or workboats intended to carry heavy loads. These oars are longer and have larger blades, requiring a solid grip. The Ø35 mm handle delivers exactly that – a robust, comfortable handle for maximum control and rowing power. This size is also common on twin oar setups for multi-person rowing boats, where strength is critical.

Maintenance: The grips themselves require no special maintenance. However, it’s a good idea to rinse them with fresh water after use in saltwater to prevent salt buildup. Periodically check that the handle is secure – especially after heavy rowing sessions. If needed, simply push it back on firmly or reapply adhesive. The material is wear-resistant, so one of these grips will last for many seasons. Replacing the handles on both oars at the same time (if your boat uses two oars) is a good practice to ensure a consistent feel and grip on both sides.
