This product is a male snap fastener with screw – a combined piece consisting of a snap stud head and an integrated screw for securing to a hard surface. It is made from high-quality marine-grade stainless steel, ensuring long-lasting performance without rusting even in harsh saltwater environments. The screw portion has a wide flange just beneath the snap head – this flange presses down on the canvas or fabric when installed, preventing the fastener from pulling through.
Installation: Extremely simple – mark the spot where you want to secure your cover, drill a small pilot hole (slightly smaller than the screw’s diameter for a tight grip), and drive the screw snap in using a screwdriver. The 15mm diameter head is a standard male snap that will click into the corresponding female part installed on your canvas (for example, a metal or plastic cap on the cover). Once snapped together, the connection is firm yet can be quickly unsnapped when needed.
Available Lengths:
- 00749-9 (short screw 15mm) – Screw length under the flange is ~9mm (overall length about 15mm). Suitable for thin substrates up to ~6–8mm thick, such as aluminum or steel sheets, thin wooden panels, or fiberglass trim. Commonly used for mounting snaps onto aluminum boat windshields, thin cabin sides, or plastic console surfaces where deep penetration is not required.
- 00749-17 (long screw 25mm) – Screw length under the flange is ~17mm (overall length about 25mm). Designed for thicker substrates up to ~15–18mm – for example, solid wood coamings or rails, thicker fiberglass sections, or places with a backing pad or upholstery beneath. The extra length ensures the threads bite securely through the full depth of the material.
Once installed, these snap studs allow you to conveniently attach and detach your covers as needed. This is the standard size fastener used across the marine industry – it will fit all 15mm female canvas snaps on your covers or cushions. Use cases are very broad: you can secure a bimini top or sprayhood to the windshield or gunwale, fasten a travel cover to the boat’s hull or transom, mount snap-on cushions to benches (so they won’t slide around), or attach cabin curtains and enclosure panels. With these stainless screw-in snaps, you’ll get a reliable fastening point that withstands tension, vibration, and marine weather without loosening or corroding over time.
