This larger pear-shaped buoy (420 mm length) provides much greater buoyancy compared to the smaller model, making it more suitable for situations requiring a sturdier marker or the ability to support heavier equipment. The buoy is excellent for marking anchors of medium-sized boats or for marking fishing gear in deeper, open waters where currents are stronger. The increased diameter (250 mm) contributes to more stability on the surface – the buoy rocks less in waves and remains more visible. As with the smaller buoys, the build is of resilient plastic that won’t fade in the sun or deteriorate in saltwater. Due to its higher buoyancy and size, this buoy is recommended for vessels around 5–7 m and moderate loads.
- Medium-Sized Boats: Ideal for anchoring boats and powercraft in the 5–7 meter range. The buoy can keep a heavier anchor chain afloat, which makes handling the anchor easier and improves safety (the anchor’s position is more visible to others).
- Marking Fishing Gear: Suitable for marking locations of larger traps, deepwater nets, or longline setups at greater depths. The increased buoyancy helps counteract current drift and keeps the gear line taut and visible at the surface.
- Water Races & Events: Thanks to its larger size and bright colors, this buoy can serve as a marker in sailing regattas, triathlons, and other water sports events. It is easily noticed by participants and observers even under less favorable conditions.
- Strength & Visibility: The buoy is designed to withstand minor bumps or rubbing against a boat’s hull during mooring without damage. Its vivid color (orange or yellow) and taller profile above water make it visible from afar, enhancing navigational safety.
