This PVC base track, 5 m long and 40 mm wide, is designed for a strong and secure installation of rub rail profiles onto the boat’s hull. The rigid PVC track is screwed permanently to the hull and acts as a hidden rail onto which the flexible rub rail is later slid or snapped. This method allows for a very stable attachment without drilling into the outer rub rail itself – all screws remain concealed beneath the rub rail, improving the appearance and reducing the chance of damage to the profile.
The PVC base is weather-resistant and impervious to corrosion. Unlike metal tracks, it won’t oxidize or set off galvanic reactions with other parts of the hull. It has a slight flexibility which helps it follow the contour of the hull, yet it is stiff enough to provide solid support under impact and pressure. It comes in two standard colors – black and white – so you can choose the base that best matches your rub rail and hull color.
- Compatibility: Suitable for numerous PVC rub rail models (e.g., 30x14 mm profile), ensuring a precise fit and secure grip on the rail.
- Ideal for non-metal installations: Recommended for fiberglass and wooden boats where you prefer to avoid metal bases due to corrosion concerns or weight.
- Customizable: The PVC track can be cut to the required length and drilled for mounting holes according to the hull’s structure. You can position the screw holes to line up with internal framing for maximum strength.
- Installation tip: Screw the base down with evenly spaced fasteners (about 15–20 cm apart) and apply a marine sealant between the track and hull to prevent water ingress behind it.
