Stainless Steel Deck Cleat (Bollard) – Mooring Bitt for Boats (2 Sizes)

Code:
01014-8

Heavy-duty stainless steel “bitt” style cleat designed for securely fastening mooring lines on boats and yachts. Cast from marine-grade AISI 316 stainless with a mirror finish, this cleat comes in two sizes to suit different vessel sizes. It provides a reliable tie-off point on deck or dock for ropes and lines.

  • Rugged Construction: Solid 316 stainless steel casting, built to withstand high loads, impact, and corrosion in marine conditions.
  • Two Size Options: Smaller model (≈120 mm height, 60 mm post dia.) – for smaller vessels; larger model (≈135 mm height, 76 mm post dia.) – for bigger boats or dock mounting.
  • Easy Mooring: T-shaped design (vertical post with crossbar) makes it simple to loop and secure lines, holding even thick ropes firmly in heavy winds and seas.

This stainless steel deck cleat of the bollard style is designed to provide a strong and dependable point for securing ropes during mooring. Unlike flat “horn” cleats, the bollard design features a vertical post with a cross bar, around which the line can be wrapped multiple times for an extremely secure hold. The AISI 316 stainless steel construction means the cleat will not rust or weaken, even if permanently mounted outdoors in saltwater conditions.

Available Sizes:

  • Small Size (Code 01014-5): Approximately 120 mm in height. The base is solid, roughly 120 x 95 mm, with a vertical post diameter of about 60 mm. This model is ideal for small to medium boats (around 5–7 meters in length). It can be installed on the bow or stern deck and will safely handle lines up to ~12–14 mm thick. Recommended for mooring small yachts, fishing boats, speedboats, etc.
  • Large Size (Code 01014-8): Approximately 135 mm in height. It features a broader footprint (~130 x 130 mm base) for stability and a thicker post about 76 mm (3 inches) in diameter. This heavy-duty cleat is meant for larger vessels (8+ meters) or for fitting onto dock pontoons/piers. It can securely accommodate thick lines of 16–20+ mm and endure very high tension. Recommended for sailing yachts, motor cruisers, catamarans, and also as a dockside cleat on wharfs.

Features & Usage:

  • Installation: Each cleat has a flat base with either pre-drilled holes or marked spots for drilling (depending on the model). Install using stainless steel bolts through the deck, ideally with a backing plate or large washers underneath to spread the load. Once properly through-bolted, the cleat can take immense strain from mooring lines without bending.
  • Secure Line Tie-Off: To tie a line, simply take a few wraps around the vertical post under the crossbar (figure-eight style if needed). This shape virtually eliminates slipping – the ropes lock in place via friction and their own load. You can quickly pay out or take in a line during docking maneuvers, which is critical for safe arrivals and departures.
  • Mirror Finish: The surface is polished to a mirror shine – not just for looks, but also for added protection against the elements (the smooth surface holds less salt and grime). This premium appearance complements modern yachts and will remain looking great for years to come with minimal care.
  • Marine Safety: Equipping your vessel with sufficient, properly sized cleats is key to secure mooring. With these stainless bollard cleats, you can be confident that when docking, your boat will be firmly tethered to the pier or buoy. There is no risk of the cleat failing under a sudden gust or wave-induced tension.
  • Versatile Application: In addition to boat decks, these bollard cleats can be used on land – for example, mounted on wooden pontoons, concrete docks, or even trailer parking platforms where a sturdy tie-down point is needed. They are built to withstand year-round weather exposure.
