This larger-sized plastic hinge is designed for bigger hatches and doors where standard small hinges may not provide enough support. Made from reinforced nylon, it offers an ideal combination of light weight and strength – perfect for marine applications since it won’t rust or be affected by saltwater. Its thickness (~5 mm) and extended length lend stability to the joint, so even heavy lids can open smoothly without sagging.
We offer two sizes to meet the needs of different vessels and constructions:
- 98x40 mm hinge (plastic): The smaller of the two large models, suited for medium-sized hatches and doors. For example, use this hinge for bench seat lids, vertical cabinet doors in the cabin, or equipment bay covers. It provides ample surface area to hold the panel securely while keeping weight low – a benefit for performance boats and RIBs where every bit of weight saving helps.
- 125x40 mm hinge (plastic): The largest plastic hinge size, intended for very large hatches and panels. Ideal for big storage locker covers, large deck inspection ports, or fold-down tables and benches. With its extended length (~125 mm), this hinge spreads the load over a wide area, preventing twist and ensuring smooth operation even for heavy lids.
Both variants are available in black and white, making it easy to integrate them into your boat’s design – the black hinge is unobtrusive on dark surfaces or engine compartments, while the white hinge blends nicely with light-colored interiors and decks. The hinges come with standard pre-drilled holes for fasteners, making installation quick and straightforward.
Despite their size, these plastic hinges operate quietly and require no lubrication. Resistant to vibration and shock, they are well-suited for parts of the boat that undergo frequent use. If you’re looking for a reliable, non-corroding alternative to large metal hinges, this product offers an excellent balance of strength, lightness, and environmental durability.
