This 12V electric toilet pump is the core drive unit that provides automatic flushing and waste removal for your boat’s head. Inside the pump is an integrated macerator mechanism – a set of rotating blades that grind the waste material into fine particles before a powerful impeller pushes the slurry out through the discharge line to your holding tank or overboard.
Over time or under heavy use, the original pump can burn out (the motor fails) or the mechanical parts can wear down. Symptoms include slow or incomplete pumping, the motor whirring with no effect, or the toilet not activating at all when the button is pressed. In such cases, replacing the entire pump assembly is the quickest and surest solution.
Our pump (code 02283) is an OEM replacement part from the manufacturer (Eval/TMC) and features a standard mounting footprint – meaning it will fit exactly in place of your old pump without the need to modify holes or brackets. The electrical terminals are the same type as well, making it a plug-and-play connection to your existing switch/button.
After installing the new pump, your electric toilet will perform like it did when it was new: at the press of the flush button, the sharp hum of the macerator will quickly grind and evacuate the bowl’s contents, leaving it clean in seconds.
Usage and Recommendations:
- Voltage: Ensure your boat’s system is 12V (this pump will not work on 24V systems without a converter). A 24V version of this unit is available (typically identified by a code like 02283-24) if your vessel uses a 24V electrical network.
- Installation: Before removal, disconnect power to the toilet from the breaker panel for safety. Take out the old pump module, clean the sealing surface, and install the new pump, ensuring the gasket sits correctly. Tighten the mounting bolts evenly and reconnect the electrical wires to the corresponding terminals (observe proper polarity if noted).
- Test and Inspect: After installation, run a few quick flush cycles with fresh water. Check for any leaks around the connections or housing. The pump should evacuate the water rapidly and without unusual noises.
- Maintenance: While the new pump requires no special maintenance, you can extend its life by avoiding hard foreign objects in the toilet (no wet wipes, tampons, etc.) – even with a macerator, those items can cause strain. Periodically flush the system with clean water and a marine descaler to keep the blades and hoses clean of scale and buildup.
