The 02306 series LED lights are designed as an affordable and compact solution for underwater lighting. Each light contains 6 LEDs encapsulated in a rectangular housing measuring 88.9 × 38 mm with a thickness of about 30 mm. These dimensions make them among the smallest on the market – easy to install even in very tight spaces. The construction is entirely durable plastic (with a black or white base) that withstands saltwater and UV exposure. The front is sealed with a clear resin/polycarbonate layer that ensures watertightness and helps distribute the light.
Electrical Characteristics: These lights run on 12V DC only (nominal) and draw about 150 mA of current, which equates to ~1.8 W of power. This extremely low consumption means they place virtually no load on the battery – you can leave them on for hours without worry. No additional drivers or converters are needed – just connect directly to a 12-volt source. Built-in resistors/electronics limit the current through the LEDs, ensuring safe and long-lasting operation.
Light Output & Colors: Despite their small size, the lights use quality, bright LED chips that output a concentrated light. The white version (02306-W) provides relatively higher brightness, suitable if you want some functional light (for instance, to cast a faint glow for night fishing from a small boat or to help identify your boat’s position). The blue version (02306-BL) emits a beautiful deep blue light (“Ocean Blue”), which is a popular choice for decorative purposes – it turns the water around the stern into an attractive glow. Given the low wattage, the illumination is modest (on a dark night you will see a halo around the boat rather than a bright spotlight), but that’s a desired effect for many small craft owners who prefer subtle lighting.
Installation: Extremely straightforward – each lamp’s housing has 4 screw holes. Simply position it where desired, mark and drill small pilot holes, feed the wire (approximately 915 mm length as per manufacturer) through the hull (drill about a 5 mm hole for the cable if needed), and screw it in place. It’s recommended to apply a bit of marine sealant around the wire entry for 100% watertightness, although the lamp itself is sealed (IP68). Due to their small size, these lights can be mounted in multiples or in a line – for example, two on each side of a transom – to achieve a better effect.
Applications: The 02306 series is suitable for a range of uses: lighting on small fishing boats, kayaks and canoes (they can be attached with screws or even adhesive to the hull to attract fish or mark the vessel’s location at night), dock and pier lighting (easy to power from a small 12V source), as well as for interior ponds, fountains, or pools where low voltage and waterproofing are important. Their easy removal and low cost allow experimentation – you might mount them only when needed and then stow them away. With their low draw and sufficient brightness in dark conditions, these tiny LED lights are an excellent first step into underwater lighting for anyone who wants to add a bit of underwater magic without complexity or big expense.
