The lid opens a full 180°, meaning it can flip completely back out of the way to give unobstructed access. This facilitates inspections, maintenance, or inserting/removing equipment through the ~25 x 60 cm opening. The lid’s surface has a slight non-slip texture, allowing it to be stepped on safely if installed on a deck. Installation is flush and hidden – the screws that secure the hatch to the deck or bulkhead are covered by the outer frame. This yields an attractive appearance with no visible hardware, while also eliminating spots where water or dirt might collect. Along the inside edge of the frame, an integrated rubber gasket ensures that when the hatch is closed, it seals tightly to keep out rain, spray, and wash. A single robust plastic latch handle on the outside provides opening and locking; when closed, it clamps the lid firmly against the gasket.
