90° Pump Fitting – Ø13 mm Hose Barb (Angled Connector for Water Pump)

Code:
03822-3

90-degree elbow fitting for water pumps, designed for Ø13 mm (1/2”) hose. Redirects the pump outlet at a right angle to prevent hose kinks and facilitate installation in tight spaces. Made of durable, corrosion-resistant plastic – ideal for both fresh and saltwater use.

  • Size: One end has a straight Ø13 mm hose barb; the other end has a 1/2” M thread (standard pump outlet)*
  • Provides smooth 90° water flow – eliminates sharp hose bends
  • Eases hose-to-pump connection in confined areas (e.g., engine bays, bilges)
  • Compatibility: Fits pumps with codes 03810, 03811, 03832 (12V/24V) and similar pumps using 1/2” ports
  • Constructed from fuel and chemical resistant plastic (nylon/polypropylene) – long lifespan in marine environments

This 90-degree pump elbow fitting Ø13 mm (code 03822-3) is designed to simplify connecting a hose to your water pump, especially when space is tight or when the hose needs to change direction immediately at the pump outlet. It is made from high-strength engineering plastic (such as reinforced nylon) that resists corrosion, fuels, and common fluids in onboard systems. This ensures a reliable connection without leaks or cracking over time.

Construction: The fitting features a Ø13 mm barb on one end (suitable for hose with ~1/2” inner diameter) onto which the hose slides and is secured with a clamp. The other end has a 1/2” male threaded connection, which is a standard size for the output of many marine diaphragm or centrifugal water pumps. For example, electric pumps by EVAL or Jabsco labeled with a 1/2” threaded outlet can directly accept this fitting. The threading provides a tight screw-in attachment to the pump – using some Teflon tape on the threads during installation is recommended to achieve a perfect seal.

Advantages of using a 90° elbow:

  • Prevents Kinks: When a hose comes straight out of a pump mounted in a cramped space, it often must bend sharply, which can cause it to kink and reduce water flow. Using this angled connector, the hose is guided smoothly at 90° without collapsing, preserving full water flow and reducing strain on the hose.
  • Easier Installation in Tight Quarters: In small bilge or locker areas where a pump’s outlet faces a wall or bulkhead, a straight barb might not leave enough room for the hose. The elbow fitting solves this by immediately diverting the outlet to the side, allowing the hose to run parallel to the pump or along a wall, thereby simplifying hose routing around other components.
  • Flexible Application: This elbow can be used on a pump’s outlet and also on the inlet (if the pump has a 1/2” threaded suction port). This means you can also redirect the incoming hose (from a tank or through-hull) at a convenient angle, avoiding air locks and unnecessary bends.
  • Wide Compatibility: The fitting is compatible with a large range of pumps – the manufacturer EVAL recommends it for their models 03810, 03810-24, 03811, 03811-24, 03832, 03832-24, which are 12V/24V water pumps (roughly 10–15 L/min flow) used in boat freshwater systems. Additionally, any pump unit with a 1/2” BSP threaded port can benefit from this connector (for instance, Flojet, SHURflo, and other similar pumps with matching threads).

Installation: Screw the threaded end of the fitting into your pump’s port by hand, then gently tighten with a wrench (avoid overtightening to protect the plastic threads). It’s best to wrap 1–2 turns of Teflon tape on the pump’s metal threads beforehand for a watertight seal. Next, slide your hose (13 mm internal diameter) fully onto the barb. Secure the hose with an appropriate clamp (a stainless steel hose clamp is recommended for marine use). After installation, test the system by running the pump – the fitting should not leak and will direct water at a right angle as intended.

This 90° hose fitting greatly improves the reliability and neatness of your boat’s water system. It helps you avoid the headaches of kinked hoses, reduces stress on pump connections, and optimizes water flow – a small but significant upgrade for any vessel.
