Sea-Line S1 Soft Cut & Gloss is a medium-abrasive polishing compound designed to restore lost shine and eliminate minor imperfections on boat surfaces. It is the perfect product for charter fleets or private boat owners who need to quickly bring back gloss on various surface types without complicated multi-step processes. S1 Soft Cut contains no wax or silicone, so it does not mask defects but actually removes them – the result is a true gloss with no fillers to wash away later. The compound works excellently on gelcoat (both light and dark colors), painted or lacquered surfaces, plexiglass, and polycarbonate. In many cases, S1 can be used as a one-step solution to achieve high gloss after sanding, saving time and materials in production or refit settings.
When polishing with S1 Soft Cut & Gloss, the compound quickly removes dull sanding marks from around P1200–P1500 grit, eliminating the oxidized layer and fine scratches on the surface. Thanks to its precise abrasives, S1 leaves no holograms (circular buffer swirls) even on dark finishes – the surface ends up uniformly shiny and clear, without needing a separate finishing polish to remove swirl marks. The achieved shine is impressive – a gloss level of 8/10, according to the manufacturer’s scale, which is near showroom-quality results in a single polishing step.
- Applications: S1 Soft Cut & Gloss is suitable for removing sanding traces (e.g., from P1200 grit) on gelcoat and paint, as well as for polishing out light scratches, oxidation or chalkiness. It can be used after a heavier cutting compound (like S07 or S08) as a second step, or directly as a one-step compound on moderately weathered surfaces where a combined cut-and-finish approach is sufficient. The compound is excellent for periodic refresh of yacht hulls, removing minor dock rash or scuff marks, polishing plexiglass hatches and windshields, and prepping surfaces before applying protective waxes (such as S4 or S5).
- Usage Instructions: Apply a small amount of S1 compound onto a polishing pad or directly on the surface. Choose your pad appropriately – for more cut use a wool pad (sheep or lambswool), and for final finishing or softer paints use a medium or soft foam pad. Work the polish with a rotary polisher at low speed (~800–1000 RPM) initially, then increase up to ~1800 RPM as the compound breaks down and the surface develops a shine. S1 can also be used with an orbital (DA) polisher or by hand – if working by hand, take your time and use a microfiber or cotton cloth to rub the compound. During use, the compound doesn’t tend to overheat the surface or dry out too quickly, which makes polishing easier and reduces the risk of burning the finish. Once the desired gloss is achieved, wipe away any residue with a clean microfiber cloth. The surface will now be free of any silicone or fillers and ready for inspection or a protective wax application.
