Quicksilver Oil Filter for Mercury/Mariner 225 HP V6 4-Stroke (35-822626Q15)
The Quicksilver 35-822626Q15 oil filter is the original replacement part for the Mercury/Mariner 225 HP V6 4-stroke outboard engine – a model co-developed with Yamaha that shares the same powerhead as the Yamaha F225. In fact, this filter is identical to Yamaha part #69J-13440-00, used on Yamaha’s 225 HP 4-stroke outboards (and also some in the 200–250 HP range). With this filter, you get Mercury’s quality and precision along with broad compatibility.
Being a genuine Mercury product, the filter meets all engine specifications: it features an anti-drainback valve that keeps oil inside the filter and ensures immediate lubrication on the next startup. This protects your V6 engine from wear at ignition – especially important for large V-block motors. The internal filter element is made of high-grade pleated paper, capturing carbon particles, metal shavings, and other debris circulating in the oil. The filter’s reinforced metal shell is durable and coated to resist corrosion, so it can withstand saltwater exposure and long-term use.
Changing this filter is straightforward with a standard oil filter wrench – it fits perfectly in place of the old filter with no modifications needed. It’s recommended to change the oil and filter on your Mercury/Mariner 225 EFI every 100 hours or once per year to keep the engine in top shape. If your boat runs this 225 HP motor (commonly found on mid-sized fishing and sport boats of ~20–23 feet), you can be confident that using a genuine Quicksilver filter gives your engine the best care possible.
- Application: Mercury/Mariner 225 HP EFI V6 (4-stroke outboard, circa 2002–2006, often referred to as Mercury F225). Also compatible with similar Yamaha V6 models – for example, Yamaha F200, F225, F250 4-strokes from the same era.
- Advantage: One filter – multiple applications. If you maintain a mixed fleet of boats with Mercury and Yamaha engines, this filter can service both, delivering OEM quality for both brands.
- Note: Ensure the filter’s gasket is lightly oiled with clean engine oil during installation and tighten it to the manufacturer’s spec. Use the appropriate engine oil viscosity (e.g., Mercury 10W-30 or 25W-40 FourStroke oil) in conjunction with this filter for best results.
