The Mercury F175 is part of Mercury’s latest V6 FourStroke series, introduced in 2018. This 175HP engine features a 3.4-liter V6 (naturally aspirated, 24-valve, DOHC) that achieves an excellent balance of high power and compact size. Weighing only about 213 kg (for the 20” L version), the Mercury F175 is often lighter than competing four-cylinder 175HP models, improving boat balance and handling. A unique trait of the new V6 is the Adaptive Speed Control system – it automatically maintains engine RPM despite changes in load or conditions, with no need for constant throttle adjustments. The result is confident acceleration through turns, waves, or when pulling skiers. The Mercury F175 is compatible with Digital Throttle and Shift (DTS) for precise electronic control, or available in a standard mechanical control version. The engine runs remarkably quiet; at cruise it’s significantly quieter than earlier V6s and competitors. It also features a top cowl service door – you can check or add oil quickly without removing the cowling. Equipped standard with power trim and an 85A alternator, this engine meets the demands of modern boats loaded with electronics. The Mercury F175 V6 delivers V6 power with Mercury reliability – an excellent choice for 6.5–8.5 meter boats where a 150HP is not enough and a 200HP might be too much.
