Outboard 4-Stroke Engine Honda BF50DK4 – 50 HP
The Honda BF50DK4 is a mid-range outboard engine that provides additional power beyond its 40 HP sibling, while retaining the same cutting-edge technologies and design. The BF50 shares all the benefits of the BF40 model – the lightweight construction, electronic fuel injection (PGM-FI), BLAST and ECOmo systems for strong acceleration and efficiency – but delivers 50 HP to handle greater loads and achieve higher speeds. This makes the BF50 an excellent choice for heavier fishing boats, RIBs carrying more passengers, or small yachts where 40 HP may not be enough. Handling and amenities on the BF50 are identical to those on the BF40: electric start, remote controls, and power trim and tilt for easy maneuvering and adjusting the boat’s running angle. The BF50’s alternator is the same high-performance 22A generator, ensuring that even with this higher output, all onboard electrical systems will be well supported. The torque of the BF50 is higher, especially in the mid-range, which translates into better holding power in choppy conditions and when pulling a skier or water toy. Despite the increased horsepower, the Honda BF50 remains extremely fuel-efficient and quiet for its class, thanks to precise engine management and the inherent balance of a triple-cylinder. It also comes equipped with an advanced cooling system and the full array of safeguards to protect the engine.
