Honda’s BF150D represents the pinnacle of Honda’s mid-range outboards. Producing 150 HP, this engine harnesses the full potential of its 2.4-liter DOHC powerplant, including Honda’s exclusive VTEC technology. VTEC (Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control) engages an extra cam profile at around 4500 RPM, providing greater valve lift and duration for additional power at high revs. Meanwhile, at lower rpm the engine runs efficiently and smoothly on a milder cam profile.
With the BF150 you get both impressive performance and efficiency. The large 2,354cc displacement and BLAST system enable even heavy boats to plane quickly and confidently. At the same time, during cruising, ECOmo mode ensures low fuel consumption – the engine automatically leans out the mixture for economy without losing stability or power.
The BF150D is fully compatible with the NMEA 2000 network standard, meaning all engine data (RPM, temp, pressure, fuel flow, etc.) can be integrated into your onboard electronics and displayed on multi-function screens. Additionally, Honda offers the BF150 with an optional electronic throttle and shift system iST (Intelligent Shift & Throttle). This drive-by-wire technology allows incredibly smooth and precise gear changes, as well as easy rigging of multiple control stations – a feature typically found on luxury yachts.
