This portable outboard motor stand (dolly) is designed to make transporting, servicing, and storing your engine significantly easier. The robust steel frame provides stability and is strong enough to carry engines up to 40 kg. The frame is treated for corrosion resistance – key components are galvanized and painted, allowing you to use the stand both indoors and outdoors by the dock or in your yard.

At the top of the stand is a wooden transom board made of hardened beech, coated with a gasoline- and oil-resistant polyurethane varnish. This board simulates a boat’s transom, enabling you to clamp your outboard to the stand just as you would on a boat. This means the engine remains in an upright, normal position – optimal for storage (prevents oil from pooling in cylinders for 4-strokes) and convenient for performing routine maintenance or repairs.

The large wheels attached to the bottom of the frame turn the stand into a mobile trolley. Instead of lifting a heavy engine and carrying it, you can simply roll it along. The wheels are made of durable plastic/rubber suitable for smooth surfaces like marina docks, garages, or driveways. Thanks to these wheels, even one person can safely move an engine that would be difficult to handle alone by hand.

An additional convenience of this model is the integrated fuel tank holder. The galvanized steel bracket located at the lower part of the cart allows you to secure a standard portable fuel tank. This way, you can transport not only the motor but also its fuel supply at the same time, with no risk of the tank sliding off or tipping over. This feature is especially handy for winter storage or when you need to remove the motor from the boat for servicing – your entire outboard system (engine + fuel tank) can be wheeled in one go.

Use Cases and Recommendations:

  • Transportation & Storage: Highly recommended for all outboard motor owners who need a safe and convenient way to move their engines. It’s indispensable for heavier motors (~20–40 kg) that are hard to carry manually – using this stand minimizes the risk of personal injury or dropping the engine.
  • Service & Maintenance: The stand holds the engine upright at a comfortable working height (the mounting board is about 85 cm high, suitable for “long shaft” motors). This makes tasks like oil changes (for 4-strokes), spark plug replacements, flushing the engine with fresh water, winterization, and other repairs much easier. You can attach flushing muffs and even run the engine on the stand to rinse it after use, without needing it mounted on a boat.
  • Mobility: If you frequently install and remove your outboard – for example, if you use it on different boats or take it off after each trip – this trolley will save you time and effort. Simply wheel the stand to your vehicle or boat, clamp the motor onto it, and roll it away effortlessly.
  • Compact Storage: When the engine is secured to the stand, you can store it in a garage or shed with a much smaller footprint than an engine lying on the floor. The motor stays vertical, which is recommended for long-term storage (especially for 4-strokes, to prevent any oil seepage into cylinders).
  • Maximum Capacity: 40 kg is the upper limit – roughly a 15 HP two-stroke or a 9.9 HP four-stroke outboard. If you have a larger engine (e.g., a 20 HP 2-stroke ~45 kg), consider a heavier-duty stand or check for the higher-capacity model (the taller variant, code 47.373.02, rated for ~20 HP engines). Avoid exceeding the stand’s capacity to maintain safe operation during transport.
  • Mounting the Engine: Secure your outboard to the wooden board by tightening its clamps firmly, as if mounting it on a boat. Ensure the engine is centered and balanced on the stand. When moving the cart, hold the engine’s handle and tilt the stand slightly back onto its wheels (much like using a hand-truck) to roll it. Always move slowly and carefully, especially over uneven ground.
  • Safety: Never leave the engine on the cart unattended on a steep incline, since the wheels do not have brakes. If needed, chock the wheels or otherwise immobilize the stand when stationary. Additionally, when not in use, you can remove the engine from the stand or secure the cart to a wall to prevent it from rolling. Overall, using common-sense precautions, this motor stand greatly improves safety and convenience in handling your outboard off the water.
