This 90-degree gas spring bracket is intended for mounting a gas strut in a configuration where one attachment point is on a horizontal surface and the other is on a vertical surface. It is made of high-quality 316 stainless steel, ensuring corrosion resistance even with constant exposure to a moist, salty environment. The angled design features a flat base (45 x 30 mm) that secures to one surface, and a perpendicular ear plate (approximately 30 mm tall) which carries an 8 mm threaded pin to attach the gas spring. This setup is ideal for situations such as connecting a horizontal engine hatch to a side wall of the cockpit or other vertical bulkhead – where a standard flat bracket would not provide the correct mounting angle.
Installation involves bolting the base firmly to the boat’s structure (or the inside of the lid) and screwing the gas spring onto the stud, creating a pivoting connection. The compact size of the bracket allows it to fit in tight spaces, while the strength of the material ensures stability during the strut’s motion. Using an angled bracket greatly simplifies gas spring installation in challenging scenarios where the strut must operate at a right angle. This part is commonly used when installing gas lifts on engine covers, vertically hinged doors to lazarette or storage compartments, as well as hatches that open to the side. For cases where both attachment points are on parallel surfaces, a flat bracket version (model 03335-3) is also available.
- Example Uses: Ideal for mounting a gas spring that assists lifting an engine hatch (when the hatch is horizontal and the frame is vertical), a vertically opening cabinet door in the cabin, or a hatch that opens against a side bulkhead
- Installation: Attach the base with stainless bolts or screws to a sturdy surface (e.g., the inside of the hull or bulkhead). It’s recommended to use a locking nut on the threaded pin after installing the strut to prevent loosening under vibration
- Reliability: The heavy-duty stainless steel and reinforced angled profile withstand the dynamic forces of the moving gas strut and prolong its service life. Even with frequent opening and closing, the bracket’s attachment remains secure
- Combined Use with Flat Brackets: In a typical 90° gas spring installation, one side (lid or hull) uses this angled bracket, and the other side may use a flat base (03335-3) or another angled bracket – depending on the geometry of the application
