The Mercury F80 is a powerful outboard positioned in the sweet spot between compact and high-performance engines. Sharing the architecture of Mercury’s 2.1L platform (the same base as the 90 and 115HP models), the F80 boasts 2064cc of displacement – the largest in the 80HP class, translating to unmatched torque and ease of handling loads. Even at 80% throttle, this engine runs unstressed, contributing to a long service life. The four cylinders operate smoothly, and balance shafts in the engine further reduce vibrations. The Mercury F80 features EFI for fuel efficiency and quick starting, as well as SmartCraft compatibility, enabling the use of digital gauges and even an optional Troll Control system for fine speed adjustments while trolling. At approximately 165 kg, this engine is slightly lighter than competitor models, giving an edge in boat carrying capacity. It is available with Long (L) or Extra Long (XL) shafts to fit various hull types. The included freshwater flush port makes it easy to rinse the engine with clean water after saltwater use, extending its longevity.
